The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I think North was a good school in terms of academics and opportunities. Although the teachers sometimes lacked communication, the information we gained was very valuable and exceedingly enriching. The clubs provided were also in plenty, and the course selections as well. But it always felt like the priority was on the sports department and superficial qualities (which I will elaborate on further). Growing up, the racism problem was very rampant; it either was never addressed or given a simple slap on the wrist as punishment. I have many friends who are black and Indian, and they tell stories of the people around them spewing racist comments at them. I personally with a Latino family have experienced some as well, but thankfully to a lesser amount. But when I mentioned superficial, it was how they preached inclusivity publicly, but let their students go through these things. I don't think I ever saw any students properly punished for being racist.

I think that in the context of it being in Hunterdon County NJ, it is not a bad school. There is a fine mix of people, with much of the diversity coming from the biomedical academy.

Overall the best parts of North were going to the football events and meeting new people. The worst part was some of the unqualified teachers. I wish they could change the food because right now it's pretty bad.

My child went to a Big 10 out of state school after high school and said that she felt high school was more challenging than her first year in college, and that her peers who went to high school in other states struggled with the material, despi...
As a parent this school is better than Catholic Schools where both my kids attended from k-8. Students respect each other and absolutely no incident in the last 5 years between my 2 kids. Not sure why it is rated 8/10, it i=should be at least a 9 if not 10.
