Blanton Elementary School is located off South Collins Street in East Arlington. The school operates within the Arlington Independent School District and serves students in prekindergarten through sixth grade. The school opened in September of 1956 and is home of the Eagles! The school was named after Louise Blanton. Ms. Blanton was born in Forth Worth, Texas, in 1911. She graduated from Penn College for Women. She taught in Grand Prairie from 1933 to 1935, then started teaching in Arlington at Kooken Elementary in 1946. She continued to teach in Arlington for the remainder of her career. Blanton Elementary has a uniform policy in place. Students can wear long or short sleeved polo shirts in white, navy or light blue. Navy or khaki pants or shorts must be worn with a black or brown belt. Other school approved shirts are sold by the Parent Teacher Association and support the resource needs of students and staff. College for Kids is a special program offered to students attending Blanton Elementary. The program allows students to attend a three-week summer program at Tarrant County Community College. Students can participate in courses such as forensic science, robotics and theater. Transportation is provided from the student's campus to the community college. First Christian Church of Arlington has sponsored College for Kids since 2010.
