Established in 1950, The Howard School offers roughly 250 students an education from K-12 that promises to help them discover the joy of learning. Bringing a non-traditional approach, the school aims to celebrate each learner’s strengths by providing a program that targets language-based learning disabilities. With its student-run conferences, a focus on life skills like time management and organization, and innovative classes such as American Sign Language, The Howard School prepares its students for a lifetime of opportunity and empowerment. Traditional disciplines, as well as national and state education standards, still have a place here. Interdisciplinary teaching teams collaborate in an effort to bring a well-rounded curriculum to all students, with the ultimate purpose of fostering critical thinkers who are advocates for their own learning process. Although it is nestled within the Upper Westside neighborhood, The Howard School serves the greater Atlanta area, as it is a private institution and the only one of its kind within the city. The campus is situated on 16 acres of woodlands overlooking the historic Howell’s Mill. Just around the corner on Howell Mill Road, you will find many notable eateries fit for an after-school treat.

I love this school. I have a lot of learning disabilities and they help a lot. I won't go anywhere else. Sports are mostly fun teachers are awesome not much Homework but does get a bit harder in high school during the day but that means you won't get too much homework. I got here in 6th grade and it was super Easley and so was 7th grade. 8th grade was a little hard because they were trying to prepare us for high school. Freshman year was surprisingly pretty easy and first semester of sophomore year wasn't that much harder but the second semester was really tough. I hope honor year is better next year.

I love it here. I have ADHD and I started in 6th grade halfway through. TEACHERS ARE AMAZING. The sports are not run greatly. They can get boring and they work us too hard. I think we need no HW. Not a lot.

I would not recommend you send your child here if you are interested in education. It was once a great school but in the past 2 years it has collapsed due to a lack of leadership and accountability. The school pushes an agenda that you may or may not like. Even as a "neutral" in all things; I have se...

The wifi is so bad because they use a signal blocker and limit our phone usage. One day I had to call somebody about a job opportunity and because of the blocker, I wasn't able to get the job.

This is an exceptional school for children with a variety of language based learning differences to experience success. You will see your child’s anxiety ease and their confidence increase. They are celebrated for learning differently, not alienated.

An amazing school equipped with the necessary resources to support these special kids. These students receive tailored instruction and access to assistive technology, which initially attracted us to this institution. This school isn't exclusively for students with dyslexia; it embraces all learners...
