The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

A lot of change has occurred during the 13 years that I have been attending this school. "A home away from home", I have considered this formerly small-knit community of a school. I've grown up alongside the same people for most of my life as a child, seen them come and go, all of us agreeing on one thing. NYOS is becoming less of "Not Your Ordinary School". It hasn't particularly changed for the worst but every year as we become larger, we seem to be losing our special touch. Our community, our family has become estranged in a way.

NYOS has been a rewarding school that I have attended since 5th grade. The teachers are fantastic and really care. The class sizes are very small, so it's a different experience than traditional public school would be.

Nothing very special about the school I feel like the only very good thing is how small the classes are

Let me start with the good first. We have had kids at Nyos for over 10 years and Nyos was a Great school. The old campus was small but everyone was like family. The teachers knew everyone and the principals for all grades were amazing. They took the time to get to know most if not all of the kids an...
