Rutledge Elementary is a first-rate Leander ISD school serving pre-K through fifth graders in Avery Ranch. Students here far exceed state averages on standardized tests, earning Rutledge a perfect 10 out of 10 rating from Greatschools.org. It was also Austin Family Magazine’s reader’s pick for the best public school of 2022. Much of Rutledge’s success is due to its unique approach. Rutledge uses the “seven highly-effective habits” to help students take charge of their potential. This acclaimed program helps develop self-reliance, perseverance and thoughtfulness even in very young students. Rutledge’s curriculum aligns with the district’s high standards and focuses on language arts, math, science and social studies fundamentals. Spanish, art, music and P.E. are also woven into students’ days. A few of the school’s enrichment activities include the Chorale Club, Culture of Caring Club and Ukulele Club. Students can also participate in the international, creative problem-solving competition, Destination Imagination. They share their unique talents at the school’s annual spring show. At Rutledge Elementary School, every student learns they have what it takes to create, achieve and lead.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

We were here for Kindergarten. We had several issues with the young teacher who missed many days of school and didn't do a great job with educating the kids or sufficiently challenging our daughter. We saw her slump over the year based or her standardized scores. Overall, there were some positives about the rest of the school: facilities, activities, thoughtful parents

Very poor communication skills at this school. The administrative team is a mess. Depending on who you talk to the rules change. They don’t adhere to IED/ 504 guidelines with meetings and setting things up. You have to hound them. There is zero communication on how your student is doing other than t...

5 star we love it because of the balance between excelling in academics and teaching social/emotional skills to help her be more effective in building resilience and overcoming challenging situations.

This school maybe great for normal students but does little to support a special needs child. My child has made zero progress this year but I only found that out though his report card. No explanations, no progress notes to say he was doing poorly, and no plan of action. Took over two weeks to meet...

We moved to Avery Ranch in August of 2015 and I am beyond happy that we've made the decision to send our kiddos to Rutledge. My son has formed friendships with boys who are polite, supportive, and fun! He is so much happier here than the school we came from, which is saying a lot since he had plenty...
