The academics and teachers at Avon Lake High School are extremely good - especially for a Cleveland-area public school. However, the diversity and welcoming community is severely lacking. There is not much of a call to action to change this, and it will likely worsen with time.

Avon Lake was a good stepping stone to where I am now, although it falls through in places. Sports and band are more important than anything it seems, and there's a cultural that you either have to be good at sports or extremely smart. There is a lot of room to experiment with the wide range of classes, though. I would have never found my interest for history without the classes I took. The administration have to pick up the slack the counselors do as they have never been a help. Still, it was extremely helpful for college.

Avon Lake high school has good and bad aspects. Overall it is a very nice school district. I would say 95% of the teachers are exceptional and the classes are well taught. Personally as a student who likes English over math I think the English curriculum could use a bit of a boost. Whereas the math curriculum(excluding a few teachers) is extremely good. I think a decent amount of AP classes are offered and lots of technology classes. But I feel they need more of a variety of classes for students pursuing various careers. Throughout the pandemic Avon lake has made an effort to keep us in school if possible which is appreciated because the online classes were not very effective for students. Many of us struggled which is nice that we are able to go to school and maintain covid protocol.

Two students in our family attended Avon Lake High School. All I can say after living in this area for over 10 years is this is the almost perfect community to educate your children. Great teachers, the classrooms and facilities are top notch, modern and well funded. Avon Lake school system has been...

It's not the worst, but it has declined drastically over the last decade. Need new administration.

Most of the teachers are horrible, they don't teach, teachers take a really long time to grade tests and HW. MANY OF THE TEACHERS SHOULD BE FIRED, if tons of kids are doing poorly in your class it has to be you the teacher, lack of ability to teach. No one in that school cares if your child is bulli...
