GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The teachers don't really teach here. I wish it went 5 days a week. The kids are jerks, but I found a couple nice people. Along with they don't allow the promotion of religion

as a transfering senior to a new school, Valley Oaks was definitely the right decision for me and my family. in my previous years of high school i had a difficult time fitting in. i struggled knowing when to say something, who to invite over, and how to act was a struggle for me and it reflected in the people who kept me close. i was constantly getting left behind not only by other students, but also team mates, teachers, and even coaches. on my first day of school at valley oaks, i was asked by at least three administrative workers how my very first day was going, which was something i had never even been close to experiencing in public school. i was overwhelmed with a sense of welcomness and belonging. ofr students in publich school who are having a hard time fitting in, you will definetly fit in at valley oaks.

I like the ability to manage your own time and to some extent work at your own pace. Not being in class every day allows for flexibility in your schedule. The teachers are all very kind and are available and willing to help you. Only downside is there are no AP classes and no school sports. You can however take classes through Bakersfield College while attending there.

I went here for my first 4 years of school starting in kindergarten and I only left because of family instability. It was amazing and truly spoiled me in terms of ever liking other schools.

This Charter school is outstanding. My daughters went there for two years and the teachers really helped equip me for home schooling. They not only take the time to go over every aspect of teaching the subjects but also demonstrate their willingness to help. The activities they provide for science,...

After our first year at Valley Oaks, we are in love! This has been such a wonderful transition from public school to homeschooling. My kids (elementary school) have made excellent friends, the field trip organization is great, the parent club does a wonderful job working to hold great events for the...

This school is absolutely phenomenal! My son attended a traditional public school for grades K-2 before transferring to VOCS. After 3 years of struggling both socially and academically in school, he was diagnosed with low/moderate-functioning autism and dyslexia and given an IEP. As much as we loved...
