KIPP Pleasant Grove Primary is a public, charter school part of the KIPP Texas Public Schools network. That extensive network consists of 59 pre-K-12 schools that offer open-enrollment and tuition free schooling to about 34,000 students across the state. KIPP Pleasant Grove Primary is located in South Dallas and serves 596 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school was founded in 2016 and is committed to academics, the arts, and the social emotional-well-being within its student scholars. The school prides itself in rigorous academics with strategic instructional minutes that guide its structuring of the school day, such as where students receive 175 minutes of daily literacy instruction, 110 minutes of accelerated math training, as well as 30 minutes of social-emotional learning that emphasizes self-management, self-awareness, decision making and relationship building. The school also uses strategic instructional strategies to further students’ academics in science, social studies and the arts. Students at the school become known as “champions” of their learning, identity, goals and futures. The KIPP Pleasant Grove Primary school offers several extracurricular activities, like its First Tee Dallas golf team, its Champion voice choir, and tutoring and after-school trips through its partnerships with Boys and Girls Club. After completing fifth grade, students can attend additional charter schools within the KIPP network, including the KIPP Pleasant Grove Middle School and the KIPP Oak Cliff Academy for high school.
