Opened in 1957, Pleasant View Elementary was one of the first public elementary schools in Baldwin Park and is part of the Baldwin Park Unified School District (BPUSD). Kindergarten through fifth grade pupils are taught at the school, educating about 360 students per year. While Pleasant View Elementary does not offer the same dual language program for children that is offered in other BPUSD schools, there is an English learner program for children in all grade levels who primarily speak Spanish or other languages at home. Students demonstrating aptitude and special talents can participate in Pleasant View Elementary’s gifted and talented program, while free after school assistance programs are offered via Zoom for students in fourth and fifth grades if they need math tutoring or help with homework in any subject. Through a partnership with Think Together, after school programs are offered in diversity education, arts enrichment and STEAM education to offer children additional learning opportunities and help meet the needs of working parents. In addition to providing students with live homework help and a safe place to do their homework, Think Together offers opportunities for dual-language students to practice in both English and their native language.
