Altruria Elementary School is a public school in Bartlett, Tennessee, a suburb northeast of Memphis. This Title I school is the home of the Tigers and serves students from kindergarten to fifth grade. It is one of the larger elementary schools within the Bartlett City Schools system. Classrooms have expanded to portable buildings, which are used to accommodate the student body of approximately 802 students. With approximately 41 teachers on staff, the average size classroom is about 20 students per teacher. The mission at Altruria is to empower all students for success in learning, leadership, and life. Students here can take advantage of joining one or more of extracurricular activities and clubs that contribute to their academic growth and success, like the Beta Club and the Battle of the Books. During recess time, students can enjoy lots of space on the playground. On these grassy fields, students will find several options to choose from on how to spend their playtime, whether they’re on the sliding boards or jungle gyms. For students who live in the neighborhood and bike to school, there’s an appropriate space for them to help keep the schoolyard clear of clutter, by using the bicycle racks on campus.

Excellent school. I love how uniformed this school is. There is a procedure for every detail and safety measure. I know all parties involved are prepared for most situations... of course there are a few no one could prepare for. The principal is extremely involved and handles all situations personally and professionally. I love how well everyone there gets know the whole child and their family. They really invest in the child's future. I feel so confident if everyone there to take care and love my child.

Love the school and teachers. The principal is not my "cup of tea" because of how she treats parents that are not Bartlett residents. She is not friendly, but the teachers and parental involvement make up for that.

My family loves this school! Principal Johnson is caring but firm with the students. She is also always open to parent's concerns, ideas and requests. The teachers and staff are skilled, organized and considerate. The PTA is top notch! Our children are excited to go to school!

I am very grateful for our time at Altruria, and I have found it to be a truly wonderful school. The vast majority of teachers are terrific -- they genuinely care for the students, and they enjoy what they are doing. As with any school, there are always a few exceptions, but not enough to consider A...
