St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Elementary School, founded in 1950 by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is a Catholic school that serves 254 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
The school was turned over to the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco in 1968, and their traditions have survived although no Sisters remain. With a mission to educate young people to be “committed to leading successful lives of distinguished service and social justice,” its rigorous academic program prepares students for high school and beyond.
In 2019 St. Gertrude the Great Elementary School initiated a partnership with Loyola Marymount University to integrate Loyola’s Innovation in Digital Education and Leadership (IDEAL) Blended Learning Model, which seeks to foster forward-thinking ideas in educational technology and its integration into the K-12 classroom. The program shifts the classroom paradigm to allow students to choose to learn in the way they prefer, at their own individual speed.
St. Gertrude’s competitive academic curriculum has three overarching goals: personalization, motivation and alignment of digital- and teacher-led instruction. Rotating groups of students alternate computer time with small-group instruction with a teacher for reading, math, science labs and social studies.

This year was my sons first year at St.Gertrude The Great, and it has been an amazing experience. I couldn't have made a better choice for my sons education and well being. I highly recommend this school to anyone considering catholic school.
