As part of the Berea City School District, Grindstone Elementary School provides kindergarten through fourth-grade classes and programs for neighborhood families. Aside from standard academics, students are also encouraged to participate in cultural experiences such as art classes and music recitals. The school has its own multi-use gymnasium for indoor recess and other activities. Grindstone has an active PTA presence, with monthly newsletters that promote upcoming events for students and their families, such as ice cream socials and book fairs. For the 2022 school year, Grindstone Elementary was awarded the National PTA Family Reading Experience Grant, a $1,000 award that went toward purchasing 74 new books for the school’s student library. Built in 2009, Grindstone Elementary is tucked away in the heart of a Berea neighborhood, surrounded by homes and away from main roads. Grindstone is a fairly large school built to accommodate the growing number of families in its vicinity, and parents can expect a full elementary school experience for their youngsters.
