As an alumna of DCDS, I can honestly say that this school completely changed my life. The lessons I learned in and out of the classroom made me the person I am today. I formed lifelong friendships, many of which have opened doors in ways that I never thought possible.

There's a strong relationship between student and teacher. The teachers make sure to talk one-on-one with the students.

I enjoyed the sense of community amongst my peers that was created through the workload. It was a lot of work, but then again, students choose their schedule even if it must fit within certain parameters, so I suppose that's alright.

They advertise 8:1 student class size for lower school students, especially for pre-k and kindergarten and 1st grade. Not true. More like 16-1. There is no support for kids and emotional wellbeing as advertised. You would think for 30k+ a year for 16 kids they could add class coaching for smaller ki...

DCDS is a great school that offers many opportunities and its curriculum is rigorous. But there are mean and rude kids here compared to the public school where we came from. Curriculum is comprehensive and the facilities are the best you will find in the area. I would not recommend the school if you have African-American boys. Two of my sons attended from 6-8th grade.
