Whittier Elementary School in Boise, Idaho, has a long history of serving the community, going back to its initial opening in 1894. In 1949 a new building was completed and now stands only one block north of West Main Street and minutes away from Esther Simplot Park. Whittier Elementary School serves students from kindergarten to sixth grade. Its mascot, the Viking, symbolizes the passion, persistence and purpose the teachers and administrators model for the students, encouraging lifelong learning. Whittier Elementary School’s renowned dual-language and English-language learner programs are first-in-class, helping students achieve English and Spanish language fluency by the time they complete sixth grade. The parent-teacher organization heads a community food bank, cultural events and holiday-themed school days. Children will also enjoy the art and music programs available throughout the year, and parents will appreciate the open and friendly communication teachers provide.
