With more than 500 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, Braden River Elementary School sits in the Manatee County School District. The school ranks well above the state average in test scores and student progress. It calls itself the “School of Innovation,” and some of its programs reflect this nickname. An optional dual language program instructs students in English for half the school day and Spanish the other half, with the goal of developing biliterate citizens. Braden River Elementary also created a schoolwide Innovative Houses of Character program whose vision is to create a stronger community through leadership skills, collaboration and other methods. Each “house” focuses on different character traits such as kindness, courage and honesty. A holiday food drive and projects that involve older children helping the younger ones help to develop these traits. Extracurricular activities include the runner’s club, a service organization called k-kids and the robotics club. Students can attend the Extended Day Enrichment Program before and after school for a fee. Braden River Elementary School is just up the road from the Braden River Middle School, both of which offer bus transportation for the convenience of their students.

I am a grandparent who visits regularly, often on Fridays when you can attend for lunch with a child. This school has a broad spectrum of students, with an experienced faculty. Thus far, my grandson seems to have benefitted from that faculty and the general atmosphere which seems in all respects to...

It’s an A rated school with a low student to teacher ratio for the LWR area. Teachers are wonderful, the parents are friendly and there’s tons of community events. We are able to walk our kids to school or take them on the golf cart...we love having a great neighborhood school! This school is why we...
