GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I love it here - I think HSAS provides a unique environment in which students are academically challenged, yet given space to grow as students and people.

The High School of American Studies is a fantastic school that is very pleasant to all of its students. It is very close-knit and you will know everyone in your entire grade. It is very challenging yet very supportive.

This school is all you could want for a challenging yet supportive educational environment. It is hard with lots of homework. It is small and has a friendly student body. The majority of the teachers are exceptional.

A. Studies ranked 19th in the country! (#1 in the boroughs) This school lives up to its name. This school is "elite without being elitists." This is one of NYC's specialized high schools. The kids in this school are laid back, but driven. Laid back as in, kids know how to have fun. They don't cry ov...
