The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice is a public college preparatory school offering students the chance to learn about and understand the law and public policy. The school’s mission is to prepare Brooklyn’s historically underrepresented communities for college and future careers. SLJ is located in the Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood on Adams Street and serves students in ninth through 12th grade. The school’s curriculum teaches its student body to analyze the world, think critically and question the world around them through a lens of law. However, students’ educational success relies on the community working together in and outside of school. SLJ’s staff, parents and local partners come together to support the needs of every child and enrich their lives. In addition to a rigorous liberal arts curriculum, SLJ offers a comprehensive and engaging variety of extracurriculars. These range from after-school activities like student government, the school newspaper, professional/personal development through academic enrichment and support programs and much more.
