Located in prime Brooklyn Heights, Packer Collegiate Institute is a historic co-educational independent institution with rich ties to the neighborhood. Founded in 1845, this school was originally an all-female academy that continued its original mission of educating New York City’s girls until 1972, when it moved from being primarily all-female, to co-educational. Serving Pre-K through 12th grade, this school has 1078 students enrolled and boasts a 7 to 1 student teacher ratio. Offering a rigorous, yet collaborative academic environment, the school places deep value in community, independent and collaborative work, and fostering an environment for students to develop their learning skills and build a better world.In fact, eleventh graders partake in an international trip each year to better understand themselves and the world in which they live. Arts and Athletics are a huge part of the Packer experience, with performing and visual art for all grades including high level elective classes for upper school students including dance, jazz band, orchestra, and studio art among other courses. Athletics include several championship teams and include golf, soccer, basketball, and volleyball among others. I like the community aspect, overall I really enjoy my time here. Most of the teachers are really nice and flexible, they are good at what they do and you can always reach out for help. I don't think I've taken enough advantage of the resources, but there are definitely a decent amount.

Packer was great for me. I attended there from kindergarten through 4th grade.
