Walt Disney Elementary School calls the breathtaking neighborhood of Chandler Park its home. Located on Orange Grove in the City of Burbank, the school hosts 441 students from kindergarten to fifth grade and boasts a staff of 20. Walt Disney Elementary is a public school, being part of the Burbank Unified School District, and was recognized as a California Distinguished School in 2018 and 2020. This is not the extent of the school’s achievements, however, as they are also recognized as a Gold Ribbon School, a program in the State of California which honors outstanding public schools that demonstrate exemplary achievements in implementing state standards. Proudly boasting the Bald Eagle as their mascot, Walt Disney Elementary School upholds the motto "Soaring to Success". This esteemed institution also provides a Dual Immersion Program for the Spanish and English languages starting in kindergarten and using the 90:10 model of Spanish to English. Funded by the school and PTA, Walt Disney Elementary School initiated a Science Fair in 2019 which they continue to hold every year. The school provides a childcare and after school program called "Around the Bell" which operates between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Recent renovations to the school include a new two-story building and playground.

Disney is a small but mighty school despite the fact that they have a horrible principal. Mrs. Hwang has no people skills and is rude to parents and the students that attend the school. Disney is a great school. It is small which is one of its strengths. I think that funding from the district is lacking. The school leans heavily on parent groups to fill in the gaps.
