Open since 1973, Lake Braddock Secondary School (Lake Braddock) enrolls approximately 1,500 students in seventh and eighth grade, and another 2,800 in ninth through 12th grade. Committed to providing a "small middle school feel," Lake Braddock groups middle schoolers into teams of 130 students with the same teachers for English, math, science, and social studies. Individualized instruction, state-of-the-art classrooms, an English to Speakers of Other Languages program, and extensive electives help nurture not only academic growth but also the school’s five core values: compassion, commitment, responsibility, respect, and integrity. At the high school level, planning for college and careers is paramount. Students in grades nine through 12 are offered honors and advanced placement courses across disciplines. With SAT scores above the national average, and 95% of graduates attending college or university, Lake Braddock High is recognized by U. S. News and World Report as a Gold Medal School, ranked in the top 2% of all high schools in the country. Outside of their academic studies, Lake Braddock Bruins enjoy honor societies, yearbook club, student council, a forensics team, debate club, marching band, and athletics such as cross-country, golf, wrestling, field hockey, football, and lacrosse. Both inside the halls of its 604,660-square-foot brick building and outside on the expansive playing fields, Bruins pride — in all its purple and gold glory — flourishes at Lake Braddock Secondary School.

I have been partially enrolled at Lake Braddock Secondary School, since 7th grade. Fairfax County Schools offers this to homeschooled students and it has greatly helped me throughout highschool. It allowed me to take some amazing courses, while tailoring my schedule to fit my needs and readiness.

JROTC program is also the best in the State! This school is easily higher ranked than stated because of past polling. The new Principal is amazing.

As a parent of 2 LBSS graduates in ‘19 and ‘22, I feel the school did an excellent job of preparing our kids for undergrad and graduate school. Like any large public school, we had issues with teachers, kids and societal influences but all were met by admin staff or teachers when prompted. We were e...

This school has a MASSIVE problem with bullying. The students are verbally and mentally abusive to others. I would love to know what administration is doing about bullyin behind the scenese, because nothing is being done up front. Some of the staff shows an difference to a variety of problems.
