The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

South Winn has a great college prep program through its partnership with NICC, and a lot of the teachers are great people. However, admin isn't often helpful, and they tend to turn a blind eye to a lot of controversy and bullying concerns, which makes it hard to enjoy being involved in most aspects of the school.

South Winneshiek High School has given me many opportunities to be as involved as I'd like to be. I haveh enjoyed being a part of this atmosphere. The best part of my experience here has been the relationships I have gotten and the kind teachers that have made me feel more at home. I came from a smaller Catholic elementary so a huge (but so big as I thought) high school was overwhelming. It took me a year or so to become fully comfortable here, but I am glad I did.

I love that students at South Winneshiek have the opportunity to take dual credit classes at the local Community College.
This is a great high school! Every student gets a Macbook and technology is used in every classroom. The teachers really care about the students and it is a great community atmosphere. Every student gets the individual attention they need and the leaders of the schools are very involved.

This BEAUTIFUL 37.8 acre property in Winneshiek County consist of pasture ground, heavily wooded area and an inactive quarry. This tract would be an amazing piece of land to build a home or cabin. There is a pond and old limestone rock quarry area. It would be a neat campground or just continue to u...
