GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall the school has been good at offering different opportunities whether it be sports or internships and college courses these are all great things that are offered which make the school feel like one of the best in Iowa. Something that stands out is the deep connection the school makes with sports especially football which I've had a great time participating in due to the school's involvement. One of the bad things about the school is that some teachers are ill equipped at teaching students mainly in the English department that has had few teachers stay for long periods of time other than a few. This makes it difficult to feel comfortable to have a good understanding of the teachers curriculum

It's pretty decent and has good opportunities the only thing is that some sports or activities just don't get as much support as others from the administration.

There were a lot of issues with admin during my time at PHS. Hopefully they will be improving, but there always some kind of problem. They had a massive aversion to student lead issues, yet often didn't support some activities enough for them not to have student leadership.

My student loves it here. We used to be in the Cedar Rapids school district and moved to the Prairie district intentionally. It is a great school with great teachers.

Administration is terrible to staff. I do not recommend this school as a place to work.

The high school soccer coach was a real piece of work at the Valley invitational in Des Moines. Even the soccer players on his team were chiming in and yelling obscenities at the Valley staff, spectators and other teams. I hope they are not allowed back!

Despite some of my concerns about conservative administration, our kids have benefited greatly from a good music program and some very good teachers. I also feel the Junior High does an exemplary job with not tolerating drug use/violence.
