GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall, as a graduate from Cerritos high. I personally saw a lot of focus on the PLTW courses that focused on medical rather than the PLTw courses that focuses on basic engineering. Many of the STEM teachers did well on preparing me for the later college courses.

The worst parts is the trash scattered everywhere and the fact that the principal is leaving. Other than that, everything else is great.

Cerritos High School is a place that makes me feel safe and included. I am involved in multiple clubs and I feel like this school really offers a lot of great opportunities for students coming from different backgrounds.

Horrible disappointment. I'm an educator and almost immediately knew we were going to have problems. The attitude at CHS is pretty black and white: Teachers teach and the onus of learning is on the kids and their households. They also teach to a very specific population of their classes so if you do...

Teachers especially math teachers are not motivating. Many students in this school are super stressed and lost their grades when they come to 10th grade or 11th grade because Math teachers are not motivating enough. If your kids are super excited to go to school in elementary and middle schools, for...

This school covers up a lot of incidents, especially about gun violence (there were a lot of news articles covering some incidents, but I heard about many more from my child). I am afraid for my child's safety while he is attending school. I even asked the staff about it, but they were unhelpful, sl...

Science and Math department really needs to improve. It is absolute trash. I had to hire tutors and self-study to get through the classes since the teachers can't teach. Band is awesome though. We should get more funding since we're the only sport in the school that actually wins in state competitio...
