Memminger Elementary School is a public school located in Harleston Village. It serves students in the Charleston School District in kindergarten through fifth grade. A sunny atrium located at the entrance welcomes teachers and students to school each day. Featured in the atrium is a display of art and exhibits that represent what students are learning across all grade levels. In 2017, this school was awarded the distinction of being an International Baccalaureate authorized institution. The IB program provides intercultural understanding and learner profile attributes that are integrated into Memminger’s culture and climate initiatives. The Memminger Elementary campus is located in the heart of downtown Charleston within walking distance of multiple landmarks such as King Street and the College of Charleston. It features a large playground that provides students with a place to explore and play. In partnership with the Green Heart Project, there is a raised box garden next to the playground where students can learn about gardening and grow vegetables and flowers.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Horrible support from admins, students cursing out teachers on field day and then getting full ride privileges after being removed from a classroom setting. Staff blames anyone who’s an easy scapegoat for their own internal problems. Sad to see how many kids are confused on who their next teacher is...

This is my child's 2nd year at Memminger (coming from a Montessori pre-school) and we love it. The faculty and staff have been very helpful and communicative. Each of the teachers our child has had all seemed to be very involved and invested in our child's learning. We've been given suggestions for...

I have two children at Memminger, one in kindergarten and one in second grade. Both have attended since CD (aka pre-k4). I have nothing but positive things to say about their teachers, the staff, and our experience there. Both of my children are happy when they get home from school, enjoy learning,...

It is beyond sad that over the past 2 years, it has been run into the ground through poor leadership, a culture of gossip and cruelty, and an over...
