Selwyn Elementary is a safe and close by school for all children in grades kindergarten to fifth. Located at 2840 Colony Rd. and within walking distance of Barclay Downs, the school is a small part of the 120-acre SouthPark Campus. Every teacher is assigned between 15- to 17-students, and all 48 teachers provide individualized instruction to each student. Selwyn Elementary has the ability implement a talent development program that works in conjunction with the classroom curriculum for any academically gifted students in grades second to fifth. It has an affordable after-school enrichment program, which provides students with opportunities to play with friends, complete their homework, and participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities. Selwyn also provides a summer program, Camp Invention, sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Led by certified educators, it teaches children in grades kindergarten to sixth how to cultivate the mindset of an innovator. The school’s graduation rate of 66.2% is lower than other schools within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg district; however, the dropout rate is only 5.4%.

The district is a mess! C for the district. Poor curriculum. The teachers here do their best despite the district getting in the way. They mean well and want the best for every child. They are the most caring and hard working teachers we have come across. We moved to private for the curriculum, but...

We relocated from Minneapolis last year when my son was in 3rd grade. This school is amazing and this is our 3rd elementary school for our son. The teachers are top notch, there is enough rigor mixed with fun and the teachers really make sure that they meet the needs of the whole child. The only dow...

My daughter is just finishing up Kindergarten at Selwyn and it is a great school. Could use a little diversity, but the PTA is extremely active and involved- there is no shortage of volunteers. Amazing school- my daughter has learned so much and done really well with her testing.
