Home of the Koalas, C.E. Curtis Elementary School is one of three elementary schools in the Chester neighborhood. It first opened its doors back in 1959 and took its name in honor of Clarence E. Curtis Sr., a former Chairman of the Chesterfield County School Board. Providing “A Koala-ty Education,” C.E. Curtis Elementary School welcomes students as young as prekindergarten with their Head Start program. The program allows parents to enroll their children in prekindergarten so that they have a smooth transition once they are ready to begin kindergarten. In addition, the school serves up to fifth grade. Like all elementary schools in Chesterfield County, C.E. Curtis has an English as a Second Language program. To engage students aside from the basic academic schedule, the school provides several clubs and activities year-round. Clubs such as STEAM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math, meet on a weekly basis and prepare to represent the school during STEAMania. Other clubs are offered such as Girls on the Run and Rock Paper Scissors. C.E. Curtis Elementary School also engages young minds to read with their nine-week reading challenge. Here, students are challenged to read at least 20 minutes a day for nine weeks. Students who submit their reading challenge completion receive a prize. C.E. Curtis Elementary School provides children with the tools needed to succeed academically along with a gymnasium and multimedia center.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Community memberOverall experienceJust because this school is in chesterfield County does not mean that it meets the standards of a chesterfield County school. The principal and administration are not focused on what is best for students. The principal is never present and does not support teachers...

My son was in Ms. Roinnel 1st grade class and he cried on his last day of school, because he was so sad to leave her and prayed to have a good second grade teacher like ms Roinnel. We just found out that his second grade teacher is Ms Vaden. So far I've heard nothing but good things! Let's go 2016/2...

I am extremely grateful for Mrs. Vaden. My daughter's love for school has increased so much this year, and it's because of her teacher. Mrs. Vaden is an exceptional educator, and in just the first 9 weeks of school, my daughter has learned so much, and is eager to tell me all about her day when she...
