With an A+ grade from Niche, West Middle is a top-rated public school. In fact, Niche ranks the school among the top 10 best middle schools in Missouri. A peek at the academic and extra-curricular opportunities available at West reveals the reasoning behind these ratings. Serving around 1,000 students in grades 6-8, West Middle uses a middle school teaming model at each grade level. This method groups students to receive instruction from the same core team of teachers. It creates a smaller “school-within-the-school” that facilitates a consistent learning environment and increases personalization of each student’s learning experience. To meet the needs of students across the learning spectrum, academic offerings include a gifted program and special education services. Student schedules also include WEST Time, a character-building advisory period that provides emotional, social, and academic support. Engaging extra-curricular activities at West Middle provide students with unique opportunities to explore interests and develop new skills. Options include theater, film, yearbook, archery, robotics, board games, and tech club. And West athletes can get involved in intramural soccer, cross-country, and wresting. Exciting events at West Middle keep students and parents engaged year-round, with book fairs, Mental Health Nights, and Food Truck Fridays. To keep everyone up-to-date on the latest news and events, the school publishes a weekly newsletter, the Longhorn Way. And to stay current on grades and assignments, the school uses Infinite Campus, which features parent and student portals. This combination of innovative technology, creative activities, and intentional academic programs allows West to achieve its mission to create curious, capable, and confident learners.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Parkway West Middle is an excellent school. Both my children attend there and love it. Teachers at West Middle have high expectations for learning and care about kids. They make a large school feel smaller. As a parent I feel the staff is always willing to go the extra mile. Middle School is a hard time and they help because they really understand kids.

this school is interesting to say the least. first of all, I am so grateful for the accepting clubs like GSA and art club. I don't think I could've survived school without them. Parkway west is def a "survival of the fittest" type of school, this school is not for the weak. and if you've gotten thro...

Where do I even start. I went to this school for 6th and 7th grade, coming from Claymont elementary school. Right out of the gates it started going awfully for me. First of all, they don't provide any support with the transition from Elementary to Middle school. I have autism and ADHD, and change is...

This is an exceptional school, where I have seen a lot of learning, I believe the downvotes are by students trying to trick their parents into homeschooling them, where they can then play video games without having to learn. The antibullying is very effective, and this is a school that engages well...

Very kind community, when I was in 6th grade the teachers were okay, but you will feel welcome. Education is also good.
