The Edgebrook Elementary School was formed more than 100 years ago in 1898 over prairie land near the railroad tracks that crossed Central and Prescott Avenues. Rebuilt in 1939 to accommodate a growing student body, today Edgebrook Elementary School serves around 500 K-8 students in the community of Edgewood on North Hiawatha Avenue. Edgebrook Elementary School's curriculum develops strong literacy and problem-solving abilities in students using purposeful writing and technology-assisted methods. Promoting students' self-discipline and independence within a collaborative learning environment, children at Edgebrook Elementary are encouraged to become adaptable, investigative and lifelong learners. Edgebrook Elementary School's kindergarten through fifth-grade students engage with science through inquiry, experiments and data collection while middle schoolers are guided to participate in the school's Science Fair. Math classes allow students to apply computers and real-life scenarios to understand mathematical equations and principles, while extensive reading is promoted to cultivate communication and critical thinking skills in students. Enriching their academic studies with after-school activities and athletic programs in cross country, basketball, wrestling and cheerleading, students put their mind, heart and effort into their time spent at Edgebrook Elementary School. Preparing for rewarding high school careers, students become caring, compassionate and resilient community members.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Two children attended Edgebrook. The school prepared them for the rigors of highly competitive selective enrollment high schools. The school benefits from a highly involved and supportive parent community.

We have 3 kids in the school now and one that graduated out at 8th grade. There are a lot of learning activities to...
