GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I love attending John Marshall Metropolitan High School It was one of the best schools on the west side they have taught me all that I know now I'm am a proud commando they have fun activities and many more I highly recommend This School if you live on the west side plus it is a safe community they give you transportation and they will make sure that you are satisfied.Going to Marshall all 4 years were hard for me but my teachers and the rest of the staff help me through the process. From Freshman Through Senior year .Now as a senior my consular Is helping me in the process to attend Jackson State University. As a Proud student at John Marshall Metropolitan High School I have been the Top 10 of my classroom since my freshman year .I Will Definitely give this school a 10/10 .If you are into making money they have a after school matters program. So if anyone is interested into coming to Marshall I will highly recommend you and others come to this high school and become a commando .

I attended Marshall from my freshmen yr to my senior year with a little over 1000 students. They have great teachers that will teach if you want to learn and would stay after hours if you need the extra help. I was kind of a nerd so i stayed in the books most of the time. Majority of the staff and student body were African-American, with a few Caucasian , Latin, and Asian teachers. Every once in a while i would be at a sports event because they have a great sports program, at the time our main dominant sports were football and basketball. At the time the schools reputation was put on the line due to fights breaking out because of students with gang affiliation. i graduated in 2008 and i haven't stepped foot on Marshall grounds since but i hear its changed for the better. Overrall i had my share of fun at Marshall

The previous reviews were written before this year. This is the first year that Marshall is a turnaround school and they are making INCREDIBLE strides. Their attendance rate is up by nearly 25%, their hallways are clean and safe, the building has been re-habbed, the new staff is providing top notch...
