Near North Montessori is one of the country's largest and oldest Montessori schools, opening in 1963. The school serves nearly 600 students in grades pre-K through eight, divided into three levels of education (ages 3-6, 6-12 and 12-14). Students learn in mixed-age classrooms within each class, allowing younger children to benefit from learning harmoniously alongside older students.
The current campus of Near North Montessori opened in 1989, giving students access to dynamic learning laboratories and vibrant classroom communities. At Near North Montessori, world-class faculty challenge and inspire students, nurturing children's intellectual, physical, emotional, moral and spiritual development. The school features unique programs like a rooftop urban farm and the farm-to-table "Sandwich Shoppe," managed by older students learning about economics and community involvement. Spanish language classes, outdoor education, athletics and technology/STEM activities round out the curriculum at Near North Montessori.

Please do your due diligence and talk to the existing and former families at NNMS before you enroll your child. The school has lost almost all 3-6 teachers along with a few 6-9 teachers this year, and these teachers were there for decades. The administration and board failed miserably in taking actions and addressing these issues.
