Rodolfo Lozano Bilingual & International Center is a Chicago Public Schools campus located in the Wicker Park neighborhood devoted to high-quality education. This magnet school is named after Chicago activist Rodolfo “Rudy” Lozano, who advocated for Latino rights and heritage appreciation in the Chicago community. Today, Lozano Center serves over 160 students in Grades pre-K through 8. The school seeks to establish a collaborative and caring learning environment for all children with the help of teachers, the local community and parents. The school fosters human communication, understanding, and empathy in students, as well as an appreciation of diversity through a dual language-based curriculum. A rigorous academic curriculum prepares students for future secondary and college education success. Initiatives include before and after-school programs in math and reading, as well as a Learning Garden. Known as the Lozano Eagles, the school hosts several activities, including cross country and basketball athletic programs. Parents are encouraged to be part of their child’s education and to get involved through volunteer opportunities at the school.

This school has done a complete 180 since the pandemic. With new leadership, highly qualified and dedicated staff, this small community school is the ideal place for parents that want a close-knit community, smaller class sizes that facilitate individualized attention for students.

My son has been at Lozano since preschool during the pandemic, which I am sure you can imagine was a challenging time. In spite of those challenges, I watched the school, teachers and staff pivot like most of the world to try to make sure students learned. Lozano is getting better with every year. M...
