McKinley Elementary School was transformed in 2020 to McKinley Educational Center. The school serves a very small population of sixth through eighth graders — generally no more than 20 at a time — in Cicero District 99.
The school caters to students who need severe academic, behavioral, social and emotional interventions, including students who are at great risk of dropping out of school.
McKinley Educational Center helps students succeed through intensive supports around behavioral, social and emotional issues, as well as individualized instruction and remediation.
Staff at the school try to encourage a culture of respectful and supportive relationships through the example of attentive and caring adults.
The school operates on a points system that rewards students as they progress academically, behaviorally, socially and emotionally. The more points students earn, the more privileges they receive.
McKinley Educational Center offers students in Cicero District 99 who need intense interventions the chance to remain in the district.
