St. Mary School, located at 2845 Erie Avenue, held its first classes in 1908 with The Sisters of Charity teaching classes (and serving as principals until 1973) and has evolved through the years to the present-day K-8 educational offerings. The teaching faculty currently average over 20-years classroom experience, and 35% of the faculty hold master’s degrees or post-graduate credits. Standardized test scores remain consistently within the top 10 percent in the nation. The school embraces the inclusion of parents (within classrooms, cafeteria, playground, computer labs, etc.) – including the providing of input to teachers and the principal about the school program. St. Mary’s believes parents and teachers are partners in education, and working together, they can deliver the best possible results for the children. St. Mary School complies with the Archbishop of Cincinnati’s Decree on Child Protection which means each employee and volunteer is manually fingerprinted, and a complete electronic background check is completed.

St. Mary's School is a great school for grades K-5. After 5th grade, classes become easier and prepare you less for high school/college. The English and Math programs at St. Mary (in junior high) are average, but they don't challenge students.

Several tenured teachers (and students) have since left SMS since the administration changed over. SMS was once a warm and nurturing environment for both students and famil...

I would say the education is solid, there is a gap in technology for teachers and students. There is also a gap in diversity and inclusion. There are some older teachers with outdated ideas and thoughts. These teachers often bully and shame students if they don't fit into the norm. The good news is...

Academics in early grades is all right. Very cliquey social structure. My son is a senior now at Walnut, but still remembers how harsh and unpleasant one of the first grade teacher (Mrs. Doyle) was. I remember him refusing to go to school because she was just not nice to him and other kids.

The 2014-2015 school year is our 1st at St Mary School. We transferred our children from a small (under 160 students) parochial school. The transition has been pleasant & smooth. The whole St. Mary Community has been supportive and welcoming. Our children are happy and thriving socially, spiritually...
