Wydown Middle School in Clayton is recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and is consistently ranked as one of the top public middle schools in Missouri. The ranking is largely attributed to the school’s innovative approach to education which combines the arts with traditional instruction. The school operates with a living curriculum which is frequently reviewed and adjusted to meet the changing needs of the more than 600 sixth through eighth grade students. Educators act more as facilitators, allowing the children to share their voices and explore their interests. In addition to the core offerings, students choose from four elective options made up of performing arts, musical arts, visual arts and language arts. They can gather inspiration through the environment because every classroom is designed to connect to the outdoor environment, and common areas are adaptable to support independent learning and spontaneous performances. Plenty of opportunities for growth exist outside of the classroom through Wydown Middle School’s vast extracurricular options, including intramural, student council, athletics and performing arts. With this mix of arts and education, these Greyhounds will leave with a well-rounded education that prepares them for the next stage of their education.

They pay you well and most of the teachers there love teaching and care about their students, but the toxic administrative environment was spirit-crushing and some, if not many, excellent teachers have left. It was the worst school where I've ever worked.

I went to Glenridge Elementary and loved it, but when I had to go to middle school, it was just too much for me. The teachers were supportive enough, but they didn’t accommodate to meet my needs as a person with ADHD, ASD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and possibly Bipolar 2. They failed to provide me...

My kids transferred in from another district and the leaders, teachers, community, and students were wonderful. The workload was much higher than our previous district and my kids struggled at first but the support was phenomenal. Help is always an option from teachers. Counselors cared and knew all...
