Tremont Montessori School is a public pre-K through eighth grade option in the neighborhood. TMS is housed in a historic building erected in 1917 as Tremont Elementary. About 400 students attend the school. Tremont Montessori attracts students from the east and west sides of Cleveland as part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Because of this mix, students at the school are able to build friendships with peers from various backgrounds.
The school follows the Montessori philosophy and curriculum and Ohio Learning Standards to prepare students for personal, social and academic growth. CMSD converted TMS to the Montessori model in 2005.
At Tremont Montessori, students are placed into mixed age groups that learn and progress together. Students usually have the same teacher for multiple years. This arrangement enables students and teachers to build longer-term, more interactive relationships. Teachers, staff and school leaders work to create a safe learning environment where students are supported and challenged to develop every day. TMS students thrive in various enrichment opportunities, including band, orchestra, Parade the Circle, robotics, anti-bullying student groups, and more. Partnerships with the Cleveland Music Settlement and the Cleveland Foundation enable supplemental music instruction for interested students.

I am surprised the physical building is still standing. It is old and depressing to see. There is no hospitality when you approach the building other than a bunch of cars in a lot. The classrooms are very dull and boring. There is no cheerfuls colors. Hallways are dark and drab.

Tremont is terrible! My little girl enter 6th Grade with A's and a amazing grade point average when she left May 22nd she was failing nearly everything!
