As the only high school in the Coronado Unified School District, Coronado High School (CHS) plays a pivotal role in educating local students. CHS sits in the center of Coronado Island in close proximity to the local elementary and middle school. With just over 1,200 students across three grades, the school is decidedly mid-size but still feels intimate thanks to a tight-knight and generous community. In addition to state-of-the-art classrooms, the school offers a football field and aquatics complex and is positioned next to the Coronado Public Library, tennis courts and Spreckels Park. With over 20 AP and 5 Honors courses offered, there’s no shortage of challenging coursework for students. For those more arts-minded, Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is a school-within-a-school on the campus of CHS. Students who choose to enroll can choose to major in disciplines ranging from instrumental music to visual arts or digital media. With rich offerings and an involved local community, CHS is a truly attractive pick for Coronado’s young learners.

CHS was a wonderful place to go to high school. Safe island, a beautiful campus, and fantastic academic opportunities as well as sports. I loved (almost) all of my teachers. Diversity and culture is something to be improved. They're getting there slowly but surely but it definitely needs attention. The 4x4 class schedule is also only beneficial to a certain selection of students and without proper resources for those it throws under the bus.

There is a win range of competent teachers, particularly in the sciences and English departments. This school does well at catering to its students needs.

We are here for the 4x4 Academics. The teachers are better than we expected. My highly academic kid gets all the advance classes and dual enrollmets she wants with no issues with scheduling nor holding her back due to her young age. They have amazing counselors. The teachers go out of their way to m...

We are a strong knitt community and still have that "small town feel" that is sometimes lost in other schools.Academically, I have a daughter that had struggle...

This was not a good fit for our child, who has lived and attended Coronado schools since kindergarten. The elementary and middle school experience was great. Once at the high school, bullying became intense and partying/drinking is the norm. The school is cliquey and there are online social media ac...

My daughter went here for her junior year of high school. We are a Navy family, so she's used to making new friends everywhere she goes, and has never had a problem with it. That is, until she joined the Coronado High School "community." The first week at school, the local kids were cold and cruel....
