GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Mingus has been an experience. There are AP and college classes offered which has really helped to further my education, but there are many that are not. Mingus, as with all high schools can only be truly survived if you have a good support system to help you through. One thing that I would like to see changed is the amount of drug use at this school. Being constantly surrounded by that stuff has been a challenge. There have been good times, and bad times at Mingus, but it provides overall a good education if you are willing to apply yourself.

I really liked attending this school because the teachers always challenged me to do my best. The counselors help prepare you for college by placing you in classes that are a good fit for where you are academic.

What I liked about Mingus was the school hours. What I would change about Mingus is I would change is the school lunch.

Calling into the office or the counselors is a lesson in patience. You will not contact any live person, and leaving message call backs are rare if at all. If there was any reason I need to quickly get in touch with my son, I would have to drive to the school. This was my experience all of 2017-2018...
