The Dallas Academy has a rich history of serving students with learning differences. The private academy was founded in 1965 when advances in dyslexia research were being made. After years of name and location changes, the academy settled into its home in the White Rock neighborhood in northeast Dallas. Lovely homes and beautiful parks surround the desirable location on Tiffany Way. Dallas Academy serves first through 12th grade students and provides a college preparatory curriculum while meeting the students’ special education needs. Students with diagnosed learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD and autism spectrum disorders benefit from an individualized curriculum and structured, multisensory programs. Small classes and highly trained teachers help the school achieve its mission of restoring the promise of full academic enrichment for students with learning differences. Specialized yet traditional, the upper school enjoys all the extracurricular activities offered at conventional schools. In addition to the impressive curriculum, the lower school uses the Sensory Integration Activity Center, a specialized playground built specifically for multisensory physical activity. Students build self-confidence and nurture their creativity through fine arts programs such as photography, ceramics and choir. Although the campus doesn’t have a field for sports, the academy uses the football and soccer fields at Lake Highlands Park directly across the street.

Dallas Academy is absolutely the best. The Faculty and Staff do a great job of making everyone feel welcome. The student body is friendly and accepting of everyone regardless of their learning disability. Dallas Academy allows the students to shine and gives them the confidence they need to succeed.

This school was amazing when I went there. I went there from 4th grade to 12th grade. This wonderful school helps students with learning disabilities. I have dyslexia and I didn't think that I would graduate or be successful before I went there. I thought I was stupid and couldn't learn. But, ,I graduated as my senior class' Valedictorian and I got that determination that I was missing in my life back.

Not a very good experience. Felt when they take your money they forget about your kid. A lot of bullying...several kids felt this way.

Dallas Academy has been life changing for my son and our family. He feels safe and supported and loves going to school each day. One of my favorite aspects of the school is how the students at the school treat each other—such an inclusive atmosphere. The staff has extensive training in working with...
