Eduardo Mata Elementary School is a public Montessori school located in the southern part of the Lakewood neighborhood in east Dallas that serves prekindergarten through sixth grade. The school is one of Dallas’ Independent School District choices for a Montessori model school. Located on La Vista Drive, the campus is welcoming with modern infrastructure surrounded by a soccer field and a well-equipped playground. Established in 1997, the school is named after the former conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra who was a role model for aspiring young students as the music director. Eduardo Mata’s legacy of inspiration lives on in the school’s vision to create a foundation for students to embrace lifelong learning. The Montessori model encourages the whole child, academically, socially and emotionally by engaging hearts and minds. With an enrollment of over 600 students and an intimate student-to-teacher ratio, students are at the center with individual structured learning at the forefront. Eduardo Mata has above-average scores on standardized testing and continues to improve achievement through full immersion in academics, art, music, drama and physical education. Each student is assigned a computer and is encouraged to absorb bilingual language immersion. A talented and gifted program pushes the students to succeed academically through analytical thinking skills. Students have opportunities to grow with extracurricular programs such as chess, robotics, strings and reflective art. With freedom, courage, strength and great vision as symbols of the Eagle mascot, the students are sure to succeed at Eduardo Mata Elementary School.

My kids love this school. I like the environment and size. No complaints and we have been here 6 years. I like that it goes through middle school.

Poor. The school is very clicky with zero diversity. Nearly 70% students are minority with nearly 100% in position of Power/Authority White-PTA, Room Moms, SBDM board etc. Absy no Diversity in the school.
