St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic School is known locally as the “gem” of East Dallas. Tucked away on Old Gate Lane among the lovely homes in the White Rock Lake neighborhood, this private, parochial school serves prekindergarten through eighth grade students. With an emphasis on rigorous academics in a nurturing Catholic Christian environment, it ranks in the top 20 percent of Texas private schools.
Established in 1948, the philosophy of the school and its mission continue to develop each student's mind, heart and soul. St. Bernard church is connected to the school buildings, so it is easy for students to attend Mass once a week. Spiritual learning is intertwined with the curriculum, and Catholic values and identity permeate the school’s educational environment and philosophy.
Enrichment programs, such as the outdoor learning labs with sustainable gardens and aquaponics, support the academic curriculum. A well-equipped modern playground for lower school students creates the opportunity for healthy play and building friendships. Extracurricular activities include a wealth of fine arts and STEM programs, a Makerspace Program, competitive sports and many different clubs.
Lower grades are encouraged to play league sports in the surrounding neighborhood to ready them for the Bruin Athletics in fifth through eighth grades. Students compete in the Dallas Parochial League in soccer, football, volleyball, cross-country track, softball and baseball.

I have been a teacher at St. Bernard for the past two years, and will be taking on the new role of Prinicipal this new school year. I feel so blessed to be part of this special community. The moment you step into our door, you are surrounded by our Catholic identity and see the amazing academic things happening in our classrooms. Whether a student loves art, sports, STEM, or music, there is a place for them at St. Bernard. But above all else, it is the nuturing family environment that I treasure at St. Bernard.

This is my son's 2nd private school, with SBS being about 1/2 the price and my son being 2x as happy. In the Dallas private school realm, SBS is a quality education at a bargain price.
