The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. Dalton High School has provided me with a wonderful experience these past two years. The school has numerous opportunities between its 10+ AP courses, IB Diploma Program, tons of athletic teams that commonly go to region or state, and its abundance of clubs, pathways, and excellent teachers and staff. Truly a lovely place to attend grades 10-12.

5:55AM, first alarm. 6:00, second alarm. 6:01, '5 more minutes wouldn't hurt anyone'. 6:10, receive a call from my dad saying, "Do you know what time it is? You better not be late, I don't have time to take you today!" 6:11, jumping out of bed. 6:14, finally done getting dressed. 6:20, makeup done. 6:21, brush teeth. 6:23, drying my mouth after brushing teeth. 6:24, check my backpack and put shoes on. 6:28, head outside and wait for the bus. This was my routine my freshman year at Dalton Junior High School. On B days, the following would occur: 12:10PM, go on bus to be transported to Dalton High School. I would spend my last period at Dalton High School, starting at 12:35PM. I would go to Mr. Riner, who taught photography. Each day was something new. One day, it was doing work all day. Another day was playing games with friends after finishing simple work. Some Fridays, it was eating brownies Mr. Riner had made for us. Regardless, it was the best part of B days my entire freshman year.

The teachers were great. I took AP and IB classes and the year I was there, there wasn't much help from the coordinators. There were lots of programs and clubs that students could join, so it was easy to get involved. When choosing the classes for the next year, the counselors would have meetings with the students to figure out the schedules. Overall, DHS was a great schools, but the changes in the IB program staff during my year didn't help, especially considering the COVID-19 issues.
