Hallett Academy, located at 2950 Jasmine St. in the North Park Hill neighborhood, is a Denver Public School serving 273 students. The school offers Early Childhood Education beginning at three years of age, and kindergarten through the fifth grade. Hallett Academy first opened in 1950 as Lucius F. Hallett Elementary School. It underwent several changes of name and direction before becoming the Hallett Academy in 2017. The school is housed in a large, multi-story brick building on Jasmine Street, in the heart of the community. The neighborhood is primarily modest mid-century brick bungalows and a few apartment buildings. Hallett Academy received a bright and creative makeover in recent years, for the purpose of making the school a safe and joyful place for students. The school features a large outdoor play and recreation area with a playground and school garden. Students can sign up at the end of the school year to work in the garden over the summer break. Hallett Academy’s students currently score in the lower 50 percent for students in Colorado, but parents agree that teachers and the administration push hard to change that. Principal Dominique Jefferson’s intent for students is to bring out their fullest potential. Towards that end, students are instructed to Common Core standards by dedicated professionals. Students for whom English is a second language receive 45 minutes of targeted instruction per day. Once identified, Gifted and Talented students are provided an Advanced Learning Program to challenge them.

Hallett is AMAZING!!!! We have loved our time in ECE 3 and ECE 4. The small class sizes and so dreamy! We are in love with the Hallett community that Ms. Jefferson works so hard to cultivate! The teachers have worked above and beyond for my child and her medical/scholar needs. I love this school, their leader, the teachers , and the kiddos!

This is my family's fifth year at Hallett, and we love it! Principal Jefferson leads with love, and it is echoed in every member of the faculty and staff. The children here know that they are valued and respected, and this foundation makes it possible for them to leap into their learning! As a low-i...

My daughter went to Kindergarten here last year. We wanted to give the school a chance. To our surprise and delight, we have had such a great experience at the school. And our daughter is so happy and learning so much, I can't imagine sending her somewhere else for First Grade. We got into the chart...

I am a retired high school teacher and coach and as such have seen the good and bad of schools. Everyone I have interacted with at Hallett has been positive, caring, energetic and extremely professional. This is a wonderful place for kids.

This is clearly a school that is filled with caring teachers, an inspiring leadership team, and not only joyous learning taking place within the walls, but also joyous events in an effort to...
