As the population around southwest Denver — in what is now the suburb of Sheridan — began to grow, so did the need for a new high school. At the time, there were only elementary and middle schools in the area, and as their students aged out they needed somewhere, besides the neighboring school districts, to call home. And so in 1952, Union High School — which would later become Sheridan High School — was born.

The scheduled opening in the fall of 1952 was delayed, so inaugural classes were held in buildings on the grounds of the nearby Fort Logan Military base. Ten years later the school was renamed Sheridan High school, and then in 1972 the school moved to a new building. Today’s Sheridan Rams attend school in that same building, but the school’s academic mission is both modern and clear: to provide rigorous, culturally-relevant instruction that promotes success, and prepares students to be positive contributors to a global society.

Sheridan High School serves a population of about 330 students in grades 9-12. In addition to typical high school classes, Sheridan High School offers a variety of Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes which allow students to earn college credit, or a professional certificate upon completion.

Sheridan is a small school in a small community, which means although it may not be the best, it certainly is a very connected school that cares for the students success.

Sheridan High School is a great school, teachers and staff are always there to help their students, if it is a personal situation or just a school situation. One can always count on the staff and knowing that one as a student has that support from everybody.

It is the smallest school, but I think students are friendly. when I first came to Sheridan High School, I thought it was boring because I din't know anyone in this school, everything was new. After a week, I get to know students, teachers, I even found some friends.

I used to go to this school (I moved to a better one) and it was so terrible, it made me have so much anxiety I missed more than 2 weeks in a row.The students are disrespectful, the teachers didn't do anything about it. I think if they had stronger, firmer teachers and principals, maybe the students...

When I went to this school (for 4 years) the teachers were incredible but then they laid off a large portion of their staff. I do not feel that I grew academically or socially while enrolled in this school. I also feel that they let students graduate without teaching them standard curriculum and the...
