GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I loved that the school is really diverse and most people get along pretty well most of the time. I love that we engage in many activities as a school communities like planting trees! I would like to see the community encourage more engagements with students

I love north because I really love the environment. the diverse background and mindsets creates a place full of very different people, plenty of which you can learn something from.

going to north was good because it was very diverse with culture and different ethnicity. The school was average because the lunch was not appealing and it did not feel like they prepared you for college.

I am a 2017 graduate. Although the academic education was not great, the students had good heads on their shoulders. I never witnessed bullying or harassment. The student body was like a family, all having dealt with similar traumas, that we understood our peers. i made so many more friends at North...

I am a alumni to North high who transfered from another Des Moines school and found the staff and the block schedule to be a great learning opportunity. Not only does the staff care about each student, bock scheduling makes time for a more hands on question and answering, help with homework or when...
