Rutherford Winans Academy is a public charter school focused on the arts in Greenfield, Detroit, Michigan. It is named after grammy-winning gospel singer Marvin L. Winans. Extracurriculars include basketball, cheerleading, dance team, health fairs and groups including Real Women Read, Real Men Read, the Butterfly Program and the Pistons Math Hoops team. The school holds two annual productions, during which students have the opportunity to perform Broadway productions like “Annie,” “West Side Story,” and “The Wiz.” Its band has won competitions regionally and nationally, including the Walt Disney World musical competition and Cedar Point Music in the Park musical competition. Rutherford Winans Academy students have the chance to travel even farther on school trips to Europe. Back in the classroom, teachers facilitate community building to help students develop socially by building positive relationships characterized by experience sharing and conflict resolution. It's a great school and my daughter has improved greatly. I was really concerned with how much she had learned during the pandemic because I'm not a teacher but they found where she was academically and built from there and I'm so proud of her improvement. I can't thank them enough for how much care...

This school has a lot of bullying.It seems as if the teachers and staff don't care the first thing they say is no one saw it.This school needs to close down also they don't help kids that need extra help would never bring my kids back here every agian

This school is terrible, to say the least ! They say that they have a zero tolerance policy, but my son is being bullied everyday they think if they did't see it it didn't happen , also he was assaulted twice and there was nothing done about it just excuses ! The teachers seem unexperienced and unab...
