i spent k-6 grade at sjs. the biggest problem is that it's small they can't separate the smart kids into honors classes like they can at public school. even in honors math i was staring at the ceiling. switching to public school has given me the opportunity to explore academically and socially going from a 90% white to closer to 50%. right as i left in 2020 the band program folded and public school has provided me with an incredible music education that i would've never got. sjs is great for some, for average students, but if your kid is smart they will be staring at the ceiling, if your kid has a learning disability, they can't provide what a public school can. take that as you wish but as a former student, i had a bad experience and public school has created the best academic environment i can get. the community is different, we might have fights and the occasional gun threat, but there is no danger, the admin sucks but it's ok. i recommend coatesville over sjs any day.
