The Wood Creek Elementary School serves kindergarten through fifth grades in Farmington Hills as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Children enjoy an international curriculum that promotes global awareness as part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Wood Creek Elementary School seeks to develop compassionate, "action-oriented" young adults who are inspired to acquire knowledge through self-directed inquiry. Students develop an international mindset studying global issues in real-world contexts, while core courses in language, math, science, social studies and art, help them explore conceptual learning.
Hands-on educational experiences in the past have included field trips to the Plymouth Historical Museum, natural habitat projects and creating a time capsule.
Wood Creek Elementary School's "Bears" are brave participants in the Math Pentathlon, Run Club, Green Team and the Equity Club. Students participating in the Math Pentathlon compete and win awards while the Run Club stages a 5K for students in the fall and spring.
Green Team members practice ways to "love the earth," and the Wood Creek Avengers, as part of the Equity Club, fight for fair representation.
