Located on the corner of Kearsley and Ann, WAY Academy of Flint is an accredited charter school for 7th through 12th grade. The name is an acronym, Widening Advancements for Youth, and it offers a unique learning experience for all students. Founded in 2009, WAY Academy follows a project-based curriculum administered by certified teachers. This school also has a unique approach by requiring students to work from home at least 16 hours of the week and provides each student with a computer and internet connection to do so. This school understands that not every student learns the same way, and provides resources to help your student along the way. Classes are intentionally small, with less than 10 students in each one. This is so that your student can interact with their teachers and get the most out of their education. This school offers a variety of student organizations, field trips, and robotic meetups. I went to way Academy when I was 12 years old. I started there in 8th grade and I stayed there until I graduated. What I like about Way Academy is that you can work at your own pace. You only have to go to the building for 4 hours and you can continue to do work at home. The teachers there are helpful and do their best to teach you. The school was also good for my brother. It was good for him because he has an IEP and they gave him extra help, he was even able to do his work slower then the rest of us. At way I ended up graduating highschool at 15. Way Academy is like any school they want their kids to do work, learn and graduate. They don't mind the talking as long as your being quite and still working. When I went they didn't have sports or dances I don't know if they do now but in my opinion graduating early and being able to work at your own pace is better.
