Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School is a dynamic community-based learning environment for students from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Since 1926, they have been dedicated to promoting academic excellence, social development, and understanding and respect among students, staff and community. Verdugo Woodlands is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school, which means they teach students about behavior as they would any other subject in their curriculum. They focus on preventing bad behavior rather than resorting to punishment. Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School has received awards for its PBIS program as well as being named a California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) Scholar School, a California Distinguished School, and a Kindness Certified School. Since 2010, it has been proud to offer students a Japanese Dual Language Immersion Program along with a thriving Japanese taiko drumming program that teaches kids rhythm, movement, discipline, and Japanese culture in a fun and engaging way. Additional arts enrichment opportunities include visual arts, music, drama and performance arts. The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) includes differentiated classroom instruction as well as before and after-school enrichment opportunities. GATE students also have the chance to invent new products and display them at the annual Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) Invention Convention. The PTA and Woodlanders Are Volunteers for Education (W.A.V.E.) work together to provide outstanding supplemental educational experiences and are heavily involved in fundraising efforts and community social events. Verdugo Woodlands Elementary offers a unique curriculum that gives its students a rich, well-rounded education.

My child has been going to this school for 4 years. While during pandemic public schools decided to do zoom only, I tried calling multiple private schools to switch him. None of the places I called were able to compare to Verdugo Woodlands. I see the principal every day working harder than anyone el...

Just when I thought one was my favorite, she would get another amazing one. There is a lot of parent involvem...

Excellent school. Class sizes are small, teachers are engaged, and there are many community activities. A great neighborhood school where kids are challenged and thrive.

My boys have been going to this school for 5 years now. I love all of the teachers that they have had. Mr. Le Blanc, Mrs. Severe, Mrs. Galaz, Mr. D etc. They have genuine teachers that really care. And so much fundraising and parent participation goes on at this school. If I had to change anything,...
