Aberdeen Academy is a public school one-third of a mile northeast of the Creston neighborhood located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Founded in 2008, the school serves around 200 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade and offers general and special education programming. The student-to-teacher ratio at Aberdeen Academy is 13-to-1. In addition to the small classroom size, Aberdeen Academy holds a one-to-one technology device policy that ensures every student has the tools needed to succeed. Students at Aberdeen Academy have access to the federal free and reduced lunch program as well as the opportunity to participate in all school athletic programs as one of Aberdeen Academy’s “Soaring RedHawks” free of charge. Aberdeen’s LOOP after-school program strives to offer services to students that enhance their social, cognitive and physical skills. The program also provides childcare for school-age children, academic enrichment, fitness and recreational games. The school’s extensive playground area allows fun and learning to occur simultaneously. Tutoring and quiet study time is also available to all students while at LOOP, allowing opportunities for academic growth.
